In MotoGP it was Bautista and Abraham going through to Q2 as Folger lost his flying lap. This weekend we are without the home hero, Valentino Rossi after he broke his leg in a training crash leaving the other Italians to soak up the support.

It seemed that Marquez was on route to take pole but with 20 seconds left he crashed, and was left to hope he wouldn’t get pushed off the front row.

Viñales went on to take pole meaning maybe this weekend we could get the Viñales-Marquez battle we have been waiting for all year. But with Dovizioso sitting between them, he could be able to get away and take a home win which he has previously showed he can do.

In Moto2 it was once again Pasini on pole for the 4th time in a row, hoping to convert it into a win at home wearing Marco Simoncelli’s helmet design.

Morbidelli was the only rider for EG 0,0 this weekend as after a Friday crash for Marquez, he was declared unfit. But the Italian did the team proud qualifying in 2nd and will continue to try tomorrow.

In Moto3 it was Bastianini on pole at home for the first time this year with a one-off helmet design. Once again it was down to the last 5 minutes, and almost every rider was cruising down pit lane waiting for a tow. There is still no solution to the problem, and the riders were left with only 1 lap to get a decent time.

There were some big crashes in the session. The first was a high side from Canet with only 10 minutes of the session left. He was taken to the medical centre after banging his head, but managed to come back in time to set a lap and finally qualify in 11th.

The flag was out and metres from the line Rodrigo low sided coming out of the corner but unfortunately, his bike came back around taking out Livio Loi causing him to literally, go flying. Thankfully he got up straight away and moved off the track. Rodrigo seems ok but Loi suffered a broken collar bone.
